Well, there you have it folks! Getting closer and closer to that magical $20k number that everyone has been hyping about for Bitcoin ( $BTC) the past few weeks. It really is amazing how fast this has risen, and has proven time and time again that alts/ethereum has not been the best investment. If you bought Bitcoin besides anything else, you'd likely have double the profit as today.

I do think we will see a major change to that in 2018, but who.. knows..

Can Bitcoin really truly hit $40,000 and then $100,000 as so many people preach?

Quote:With over $13.83bn in trading volume, it is rather evident Bitcoin makes all other currencies look minuscule in comparison. As we have seen throughout the years, Bitcoin price forces the value of all altcoins down as well. Even those currencies which had successfully decoupled from Bitcoin – or so it seemed  – are struggling once again. It is remarkable how willing people are to sell altcoins cheap even though they are well aware the momentum will eventually turn in their favor again. For those chasing profits, it is difficult to keep tabs on all of these developments.

Although Bithumb had overtaken Bitfinex in terms of trading volume this morning, the momentum has shifted around once again. Bitfinex is now firmly in the least, although the lead is pretty small, all things considered. GDAX is in third place now, as they easily outpace bitFlyer in terms of volume. It is evident fiat currency trading markets are still firmly in the majority right now, although a lot of people are actively converting altcoin holdings to Bitcoin as well.

Quote:Hackers have stolen over $73 million in bitcoin after cryptocurrency mining platform NiceHash reported a security breach yesterday.

NiceHash, which lets people offer their computer capacity for bitcoin miners to mine cryptocurrencies in exchange for bitcoin, initially said yesterday morning on Twitter that it was undergoing ‘maintenance.’ A message posted to its website, however, now shows that its service is ‘unavailable,’ highlighting that a security breach had occurred and that all operations would cease for the next 24 hours.

In a statement, the company said:
Quote:“Importantly, our payment system was compromised and the contents of the NiceHash Bitcoin wallet have been stolen. We are working to verify the precise number of BTC taken. Clearly, this is a matter of deep concern and we are working hard to rectify the matter in the coming days. In addition to undertaking our own investigation, the incident has been reported to the relevant authorities and law enforcement and we are co-operating with them as a matter of urgency.”

You're right it is just absolutely insane, I've never seen anything like this.

Usually bad news, like the loss of $73 or whatever million dollars would send a traditional stuck plummeting.. but today we see some crazy gains??

I'm in alts and ethereum, never really held much Bitcoin - just a little bit, but nothing substantial. I may regret it of course if we fly for 100k, but the risk is too great for me. I feel risky enough as it is.

Ethereum just seems really stagnant, doesn't it?

I'm sorry.. I don't think I read that correctly?  Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

Anyways, Ethereum has a strong habit to run like the wild and then become the most stable coin of them all, it's really good at consolidating.

However, on this run up today - I am looking for a $600 target, probably closer to $590 but we will see! A hundred bucks per run, I'll take it!
